East York A smaller, centrally located district east of the Don Valley Parkway. Approximately 28 to 34 kilometres from Pearson via the DVP to the Gardiner, or north to the 401. Off-peak: 28 to 38 minutes. Peak hour: 48 to 68 minutes.

Scarborough Toronto’s largest and easternmost district. Approximately 35 to 50 kilometres from Pearson depending on the specific neighbourhood, almost entirely dependent on Highway 401 westbound for the bulk of the trip. Off-peak: 35 to 50 minutes. Every part of Toronto ultimately connects to Pearson through some combination of the same handful of highways, even though the entry point onto those highways differs by district.

The Gardiner Expressway to Highway 427 is the default route for downtown, the waterfront, and Etobicoke, offering the most direct westbound connection into Pearson’s terminal access roads.

Highway 401 westbound to Highway 427 is the backbone route for North York, East York, and Scarborough, carrying the largest volume of any single corridor in this guide and correspondingly the least predictable during weekday peak hours.

The Don Valley Parkway connects East York and Toronto’s east end north to the 401, and functions as a critical link for any Toronto to Airport trip originating east of the downtown core.
